Cranking on Memorial Day weekend...

The ToDo list at the start of the day...

Back onto this stubborn splash shield bolt...

Finally!  TaDa.
The keys and paint came in the mail from Texas.

The tire tub lid. Great condition, but that "V" should be semi-gloss black.

Not dark gray.

New discovery. Notice the two brackets in the middle of the photo?  That's the headlamp support rod on the passenger side.  There should be a bolt connecting the rod to the headlamp support. Grrrrr. Looks like the paint shop missed that.

The driver-side had the bolt (and lockwasher), but they were barely threaded together.  We got that one tightened up.

Speaking of forgetting things. I forgot to add the license plate frames when I installed the plates yesterday.  Got that resolved.

Checking the pre-start voltage w/the cigarette lighter voltmeter.

We shot the tire tub "V" black and installed it.

Notice the rivets on the "V" appear painted, but shouldn't be. Ready?

Bam! We Vaseline'd them prior to spraying the "V."  Then it wipes right off.

Well, in addition to the above, we also installed the spare tire lid hardware, spent a bunch of time on the headlight bucket, adjusted the choke, tightened up the E-brake, installed the radiator support bracket, F.I. choke hose, greased the inner tie rods, pulled the front/pass. wheel to check the wheel cylinder, and finalized the exhaust.  Awesome day!

Down to the short strokes on the '63 Fuelie...
